Chances are most people who read your blog will not print it out. So, you’ll want to write it the way you would any web content.
Make your post concise. Aim for short sentences and paragraphs. Break your post with headers and bullets. (Online readers to tend to skim for major points and have pretty short attention spans.)
Captivate readers with the right structure
According to Manta, your goal is to “captivate” readers. Follow is a direct quote from the January 24, 2013 “Tip of the Day” about how to do that:
1. Bait readers with a hot headline
2. Provide a compelling intro that describes the post
3. Wow them with your information in short paragraphs
4. Sum it up with an interesting conclusion or observation
5. Don’t forget a call to action
I really like the idea of a “hot headline,” which can be harder to write than they look. And I like the idea of an “interesting conclusion or observation.”
So, I’m going to end this post by asking you how you’d grade it, given Manta’s suggestions.
